Wind Power Development in Rajasthan: Problems Discussed

Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited conducted a meeting to discuss the state of development of renewable energy in the state on 9th January 2017. IWTMA pointed out the evacuation constraint and theft of cables. Also there is 300 MW wind power capacity ready for commissioning but could not be commissioned as there is no provision in the State Policy for sale of power to DISCOMS at preferential tariff after March 2016. India Energy Exchange has shown its interest to off take the power but there are evacuation problems. This is hindering the new investments. Delayed payments and not signing the PPAs is another problem faced by the investors.
